Sixty-Year-Old Homes on Original Boards
There are houses in Darwin built sixty years ago still running their original switchboard — ceramic fuses, no safety switches, and wiring to match. Most owners have no idea until something trips and does not reset.
That is a genuine fire and safety risk, especially with kids in the house, and it is the single most common thing we end up recommending. But not every old board needs replacing, and we will say so rather than sell you one.
How We Work
Three things that shape every job we do.
Find the Cause, Not the Symptom
Resetting a breaker is not a repair. We isolate and test circuits properly so the fault does not come back next week.
Quote After Looking
Every job is different, so we come out and go over it with you before pricing. Photos help us prepare; they do not replace the visit.
Do It Once
If we can see something on the horizon — a board with no spare capacity, a circuit that will not carry what you are planning — we will tell you now rather than after.

One Team for Electrical, Air Con and Solar
Most jobs touch more than one trade. Air conditioning needs a circuit. Solar needs board capacity. An EV charger needs both. Flynn’s holds electrical and refrigeration licences and is SAA accredited for solar, so it is one scope and one point of contact instead of three contractors pointing at each other.

Ceramic fuses: what they are and why yours needs replacing

Frequently asked questions.
What Darwin homeowners ask most.
How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?
Ceramic or rewireable fuses, no safety switches, no spare space, or visible rust and scorching. Old switchboards are genuinely a problem — they are a fire risk and they leave your family unprotected. Send us a photo and we will give you an honest read.
Do you charge to come out?
There is an attendance fee for a call-out and we confirm it on the phone beforehand. Quotes for follow-on work are free.
Why does my safety switch keep tripping?
It is doing its job — something is leaking current to earth. In Darwin it is very often water in an outdoor circuit or fitting, especially after storms. Finding which one is the whole point of the call-out.
Can you do small jobs?
Yes. Power points, lights, fans, switches and fault finding as well as the larger work. If you have a list of small things, get them all done in one visit — most of the cost is getting a licensed electrician to your door.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. NT Electrical Contractor licence #C4605, ARCtick refrigerant handling #AU065122, and SAA solar accreditation #S5228517. All work is tested and certified.
Do you work in the rural areas?
Yes — Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, Coolalinga, Berry Springs, Virginia, Noonamah and further out.
