Sheds, Bores and Sub-Mains
Rural properties usually need more than the solar itself — sub-mains to sheds, bore pump circuits, workshop supplies. Flynn’s is a licensed electrical contractor as well, so we can sort the whole property in one go rather than you getting a solar mob and a sparky out separately.

What people ask about rural and off-grid solar.
What is different about off-grid design?
The tolerance for error. Grid-connected, an undersized system just costs you a bit more. Off-grid, it means no pump and no fridge. We design around the worst week of the wet season rather than the annual average.
Do I need a generator?
Often yes, as backup rather than a primary source. A hybrid system sized properly runs the generator very little, but having it means you can size the battery bank sensibly rather than for the most extreme scenario imaginable.
How far out do you go?
Comfortably across the rural NT — Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, Coolalinga, Berry Springs, Noonamah and further. For genuinely remote sites tell us where and we will be straight with you about whether we are the right people for it.
What about the bore pump?
It has to be in the load list from the start. Pumps draw heavily on startup and are one of the most commonly underestimated loads in off-grid design. We size for it properly.
Can I go off-grid to avoid a connection fee?
Sometimes the numbers stack up very well, particularly where a grid connection quote runs into serious money. We will run both sets of figures rather than assuming off-grid is the answer.
How much does an off-grid system cost?
It varies enormously with your loads, the autonomy you need and the site. These are always site visits — there is no honest way to quote off-grid over the phone.
