What people ask about smart controls.
Will it work with my existing air conditioner?
Most likely. Retrofit controllers work with the large majority of split systems, including plenty of older units. Have the make and model handy when we ring and we will confirm before quoting.
Do I need Wi-Fi at the unit?
Yes, the controller needs to reach your network. If the air conditioner is at the far end of the house and your Wi-Fi does not reach reliably, that is worth sorting first — often with a cabled access point rather than another extender.
Will it actually save money?
The saving comes from not running the system for an empty house. If you already turn it off when you leave and use timers well, the saving is modest. If you leave it running so the house is bearable when you get home, it is significant.
Can I control multiple units?
Yes. Each indoor unit gets its own controller and they all appear in the one app, so you can run bedrooms and living areas independently.
Is it worth it on an old system?
If the unit is otherwise sound, yes — a controller costs a fraction of a new system. If the unit is on its last legs, put the money toward replacing it and get the smarts built in.
Can it run on my solar automatically?
You can schedule the heavy cooling into your generation hours, which achieves most of it. Full automatic solar-following depends on the equipment; we will tell you what your setup can do.
