Emergency Air Conditioning Repairs.

A system failing in the build-up is not an inconvenience, it is a health problem — particularly with kids, elderly family or anyone with a medical condition. Flynn’s prioritises genuine emergencies and carries the common parts on the van.

What Counts as an Emergency

Complete failure during the build-up with vulnerable people in the house, a system tripping the switchboard, water running into a ceiling, or any burning smell. Those move to the front of the queue.

A unit that is not cooling quite as well as it used to is not an emergency, and we would rather book that in properly than charge you emergency rates for it. We will tell you honestly which one you have when you call.

✓Genuine emergencies prioritised
✓Common parts carried on the van
✓Electrical and refrigeration under one licence
✓Honest about what can wait

Before We Get There

Three things that help, and one that matters most.

1

Turn It Off at the Board

If the system is tripping power, smells like burning, or is leaking water into the ceiling, isolate it at the switchboard rather than continuing to run it.

2

Note What It Was Doing

Any noises, error codes on the remote, when it started and whether anything changed. It genuinely speeds up diagnosis.

3

Have the Model Ready

The model number on the indoor or outdoor unit tells us what parts to bring, which is often the difference between one visit and two.

Common Emergency Faults

What we most often get called out to in a hurry.

Complete failure in the heat

Nothing at all from the system during the build-up, usually the first genuine emergency of the season.

  • No response from the unit
  • Outdoor unit not starting
  • Tripping immediately on start-up
  • Error code on the remote

Electrical faults

A system that trips the board is an electrical problem and should not be reset repeatedly.

  • Trips the safety switch
  • Breaker will not stay on
  • Burning smell from the unit
  • Outdoor isolator damaged

Water and leaks

Condensate going into a ceiling or wall causes damage quickly and does not stop on its own.

  • Water running down a wall
  • Ceiling stained or sagging
  • Drain blocked completely
  • Unit spitting water into the room

Commercial and critical

Server rooms, shops, food storage and clinics where a failure has consequences beyond comfort.

  • Commercial premises
  • Refrigerated or temperature-critical spaces
  • Customer-facing areas
  • Medical or vulnerable occupants

From Call to Cool

What happens when you ring about a breakdown.

1

Call Us

Ring us. We will ask what it is doing, what changed, and whether anyone in the house is vulnerable to the heat.

2

We Triage It

Genuine emergencies are prioritised. If yours can safely wait, we will book it properly rather than charge emergency rates.

3

We Diagnose On Site

Electrical and refrigeration checked under one licence, so there is no second trade to arrange.

4

We Repair or Advise

Fixed on the spot where we can. If it is past economic repair, we will say so and quote a replacement.

Repeated Breakdowns Are a Message

A system that has broken down twice in a season is telling you something. We will always give you the honest comparison between continuing to repair it and replacing it — including what the difference in running cost looks like over a Darwin year.

Frequently asked questions.

What people ask when a system has failed.

How quickly can you come out?

Call and we will give you an honest answer for that day rather than a promise we cannot keep. Genuine emergencies — no cooling in the build-up with vulnerable occupants, electrical faults, water damage — are prioritised.

Is my situation actually an emergency?

Complete failure in extreme heat, anything tripping the switchboard, water entering a ceiling, or any burning smell. Reduced performance is not, and we will book that in normally rather than charging emergency rates for it.

What should I do while I wait?

If it is tripping power, smells like burning or is leaking water into the structure, turn it off at the switchboard and leave it off. Otherwise close up the room, keep blinds drawn and use fans to move air.

Do you carry parts?

The common ones, yes — capacitors, contactors, controls and the usual failure items. Less common parts may need ordering, and we will tell you the timeframe rather than leaving you guessing.

What does an emergency call-out cost?

There is an attendance fee, and we confirm it on the phone before we come. Quotes for any follow-on work are free.

What if it cannot be repaired?

We will tell you plainly and quote a replacement, including whether your switchboard can carry the new system. We would rather say so than take your money for a repair that will not last.
