Renovation & extension electrical Darwin

Renovation Electrical in Darwin.

Kitchen, bathroom, extension or a whole-house renovation. Flynn’s handles the electrical, the switchboard and the air conditioning as one job — because discovering the board cannot carry the finished house after the walls are closed up is an expensive way to find out.

The Cheapest Time Is Before the Plasterboard

Roughing a circuit in while the walls are open is quick and cheap. Chasing the same circuit through finished walls, cornices and tiled surfaces afterwards is neither.

A conversation at plan stage routinely saves thousands against the identical work done at the end. If the walls are going to be open anyway, put in everything you might want in the next ten years.

✓Involved at plan stage, not at the end
✓Switchboard capacity confirmed upfront
✓Electrical, air con and solar on one program
✓Tested, certified and documented

Why One Team Matters

Coordination is where renovation projects lose time.

1

One Point of Contact

Flynn’s holds electrical and refrigeration licences and does solar, so the wiring, the circuits, the air conditioning and any future solar are one program, not three subcontractors.

2

Board Sized for the End State

New kitchens, induction cooktops and air conditioning all add load. We size the switchboard for the finished house, not the one you started with.

3

We Work to Your Program

Rough-in and fit-off timed around the builder, cabinetmaker and plumber, so we are not the reason the job slips.

What Renovation Electrical Involves

The scope varies enormously. These are the usual pieces.

Kitchen renovations

The heaviest electrical load in most homes, and the one most likely to need new circuits and board capacity.

  • Dedicated oven and cooktop circuits
  • Induction draws far more than gas
  • Bench, island and pantry outlets
  • Under-cabinet and task lighting

Bathrooms and laundries

Wet areas have specific requirements around zones, fittings and protection that are worth getting right the first time.

  • Exhaust fans and heat lamps
  • Correctly zoned fittings
  • Heated towel rails
  • Laundry appliance circuits

Extensions and new rooms

Full rough-in through to fit-off, including air conditioning planned in rather than added later.

  • Complete rough-in and fit-off
  • Lighting layout for the new space
  • Air conditioning circuits
  • Tying into the existing installation

Rewiring and upgrades

If the walls are open in an older home, it is the one chance to fix decades of accumulated shortcuts cheaply.

  • Full or partial rewiring
  • Switchboard replacement
  • Removing old and unsafe wiring
  • Roughing in for future solar or EV

Leave your details and we will ring you to talk through the project. The earlier the conversation, the more we can save you.

2

Scope and Quote

We work out what the finished house needs — circuits, capacity, lighting, air conditioning — and quote it as one job.

3

Rough-In

Completed before anything closes up, coordinated around the other trades on your program.

4

Fit-Off and Certify

Fittings installed, everything tested and certified, documentation provided.

Plan the Whole House While It Is Open

Air conditioning, extra circuits, outdoor points, EV charging and future solar all cost a fraction to rough in now against retrofitting later. Flynn’s covers electrical, air conditioning and solar, so we can map the whole thing once rather than you coordinating three trades who each solve their own bit.

After extensive research and a number of quotes from different installers, these guys stood out. They were the most thorough when it came to preparing a quote, asking lots of questions and doing a detailed inspection of our property. I was left with no doubt about which system best suited our needs and why. If you want a genuine team of experts who take a measured and detailed approach to both system specification and installation, I can’t recommend Shane Frew and the rest of the Flynn’s Team enough.

Needed some electrical work done in a short time period. Shane came out, checked what needed doing, was prompt and professional. Anthony came 2 days later and did the work very professionally. Highly recommended, 10/10.

Great communication, great work, fair prices. They told us they do domestic electrical work so we’ll definitely be contacting them for future works. Highly recommended.

Frequently asked questions.

What most people want to know before starting a renovation.

When should I get an electrician involved?

At plan stage, before anything is committed. The difference between roughing a circuit in while the walls are open and chasing it through afterwards is enormous, and switchboard capacity is much cheaper to sort out early.

Do you work with builders?

Yes, regularly. We work to the builder’s program, coordinate rough-in and fit-off around the other trades and keep the documentation straight so the job can be signed off without chasing.

Can you do the switchboard as part of the renovation?

Yes, and it is often necessary. New kitchens, air conditioning and induction cooktops add load, and older Darwin boards frequently have no spare ways. We check capacity as part of scoping the job.

Can you do the air conditioning too?

Yes. Flynn’s holds both electrical and refrigeration licences, so the wiring, the circuits and the air conditioning can be handled by one team on one program. That is where most renovation delays disappear.

Do you handle certification?

Yes. The work is tested and certified, and you get the documentation for your records and for the builder or council as required.

How do you quote renovation work?

Off the plans and a site visit where practical. Renovation electrical has more unknowns than a straight install, so we are clear about what is fixed, what is provisional and what depends on what we find once things are open.
