Split System Installation in Darwin.
Flynn’s supplies and installs split system air conditioning across Darwin, Palmerston and the rural NT. We size the system to the actual room rather than the brochure, because a unit that is too small never stops running and one that is too big never dehumidifies properly.

Sizing Is the Whole Job
Most air conditioning complaints in Darwin trace back to sizing. An undersized unit runs flat out all afternoon and never gets there. An oversized one cools fast, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull the humidity out — so the room feels cold and clammy at the same time.
We work from the room, not a rule of thumb: floor area, ceiling height, insulation, window area and orientation, and how you actually use the space. Darwin needs more careful sizing than anywhere down south because we are fighting humidity as much as heat.
What a Good Install Looks Like
The parts you cannot see are the parts that matter.
Pipe Runs Done Properly
Correct pipe sizing, proper insulation and a clean route. Shortcuts here show up as poor performance two summers later, long after the installer has gone.
Drainage With Actual Fall
Darwin humidity produces a lot of condensate. A drain with no fall or a lazy route is the single most common cause of water dripping down an internal wall.
Commissioned, Not Just Connected
Charged correctly, tested under load and handed over with an explanation of how to run it. Most people are never shown how their own system works.
Choosing the Right System
What actually differs between systems, in plain terms.
Capacity and room size
The single most important decision, and the one most often got wrong. Bigger is not better in a humid climate.
- 2.5kW suits most bedrooms
- 3.5kW for larger bedrooms and studies
- 5–7.1kW for living and open-plan
- Cassettes for large or awkward spaces
Brand and warranty
We are a Fujitsu Authorised Service Partner and install all major brands. What matters more is who services it afterwards.
- Fujitsu authorised parts and support
- Mitsubishi, Daikin, Panasonic and others
- Manufacturer warranty explained upfront
- We service what we install
Efficiency and running cost
Inverter systems cost more upfront and less to run. In Darwin, where units run most of the year, that gap adds up quickly.
- Inverter vs fixed speed
- Star rating in real terms
- Running cost over an eight-month season
- Pairing with solar to cut daytime cost
Placement and access
Where the indoor and outdoor units sit affects performance, noise and how easy it is to service later.
- Airflow across the room, not at a wall
- Outdoor unit out of direct afternoon sun
- Noise away from bedrooms and neighbours
- Serviceable access for future cleans

Tell Us the Rooms
Room sizes, ceiling height, which way the windows face and how you use the space. Photos help.

One complete price covering the unit, the installation and any electrical work required.
We Install
Most single splits are half a day. Multi-head and ducted take longer, and we confirm before the day.
Commission and Hand Over
Tested under load, and we show you how to actually run it.
Check the Switchboard Before You Buy
Air conditioning needs its own circuit and a spare way at the board. Older Darwin switchboards frequently have neither, and finding out on installation day is the expensive version. Flynn’s does electrical as well, so we check capacity as part of quoting rather than leaving it as a surprise.

Frequently asked questions.
What most people want to know before booking an installation.
How much does a split system installation cost in Darwin?
It depends on capacity, brand, pipe run length, access and whether extra electrical work is needed. Flynn’s quotes the complete installed price — unit and installation together — so there is nothing to add once we start.
What size do I need?
It depends on floor area, ceiling height, insulation, window area and orientation, and how the room is used. Darwin’s humidity means sizing matters more here than in cooler climates, and an oversized unit causes as many problems as an undersized one.
Do you supply the unit as well?
Yes. We supply, install, commission and then service it afterwards. One quote, one team, one point of contact if anything needs attention later.
How long does installation take?
A standard single split is usually half a day. Multi-head systems, ducted, or installs with long pipe runs and difficult access take longer. We confirm the timeframe before the day.
Will I need electrical work as well?
Often yes. Air conditioning needs a dedicated circuit, and many older Darwin boards have no spare capacity. We check this when quoting so it is priced in rather than discovered on the day.
Can I run it off solar?
Yes, and it is a good match — the hottest part of the day is also the most productive part of the solar day. Flynn’s does both, so we can size a system with the air conditioning load actually accounted for.
