Ceiling Fan Installation in Darwin.
Most Darwin homes have five or six ceiling fans and they all wear out at about the same time. Flynn’s supplies the fans, replaces the lot in one visit and takes the old ones away — which costs a fraction of doing them one at a time.

Replace Rather Than Repair, Almost Always
By the time a ceiling fan motor or capacitor has failed, the time to diagnose it and source parts costs more than a new fan. And the other fans in the house are the same age, heading the same way.
We would rather turn up once with a new fan than turn up twice — once to tell you it is dead and again to replace it. Leave your details and we will quote the fans and the labour together.
Why Whole-Home Makes Sense
The maths that surprises most people.
Most of the Cost Is Attendance
Getting a licensed electrician to your door is the bulk of a single-fan job. The second, third and fourth fan cost far less each.
They Age Together
Fans installed at the same time fail at roughly the same time. Replacing one this year and another in six months means paying attendance twice.
The House Matches Again
Mixed fans from different decades in different rooms is the usual result of replacing them one at a time.
When Fans Need Replacing
The usual reasons Darwin homes end up needing fan work.
Stopped or intermittent
A fan that has stopped, only runs on one speed, or works when it feels like it is usually at the end of its life.
- Dead on all speeds
- Only works on high
- Cuts out after running a while
- Remote or control stopped working
Wobbling or noisy
Some wobble can be balanced out. Persistent wobble, clicking or grinding usually means worn bearings or a warped blade set.
- Visible wobble at speed
- Clicking or grinding
- Getting louder over time
- Blades no longer level
Age and appearance
Original fans date a house more than almost anything else, and older motors use noticeably more power for less air.
- Original to the house
- Yellowed or discoloured
- Rusted from coastal salt air
- Noticeably weak airflow
New or relocated fans
Adding a fan where there is none needs wiring, a switch and a properly rated mounting point — a bigger job than a swap.
- Room with no fan at all
- Extension or sleepout
- Outdoor or patio fans
- High or raked ceilings

Fans Alone Not Keeping Up?
Ceiling fans move air, they do not remove heat or humidity. If a room is still uncomfortable with the fan on high, air conditioning is the answer and Flynn’s can quote both together — including whether your switchboard can carry it.
Needed some electrical work done in a short time period. Shane came out, checked what needed doing, was prompt and professional. Anthony came 2 days later and did the work very professionally. Highly recommended, 10/10.— David B.
Great communication, great work, fair prices. They told us they do domestic electrical work so we’ll definitely be contacting them for future works. Highly recommended.— Alexander G.
Friendly, professional and excellent service. Will recommend to anyone, and will use again!— Kerry B.
Frequently asked questions.
What most people want to know before booking ceiling fan work.
How much does it cost to replace a ceiling fan?
It depends on the fan you choose, the ceiling height and whether the existing wiring and mounting can be reused. The cost per fan drops considerably when several are done in the one visit, so it is worth quoting the whole house even if only one has failed.
Is it worth repairing a fan or should I replace it?
Almost always replace. Once the motor or capacitor has failed, the time to diagnose it and source parts costs more than a new fan, and the remaining fans in the house are usually the same age and heading the same way. We will tell you honestly if yours is the exception.
How many can you do in a day?
A typical Darwin home of five or six fans is comfortably a single visit where the wiring and mounting are already in place. We will confirm before the day.
Can you put a fan where there isn’t one now?
Yes. That is a bigger job because it needs wiring, a switch and a properly rated mounting point, but it is very common in extensions, sleepouts and older homes. We will quote it separately from straight replacements.
What about high or raked ceilings?
Not a problem. High ceilings usually need an extension rod to get the fan down to an effective height, and raked ceilings need the right mounting. Mention it when you enquire so we bring the right gear.
Do you supply the fans or do I buy them?
Either. Most people prefer we supply them, because we can choose units that hold up to Darwin’s humidity and salt air and it is all under one quote. If you have already bought fans, we are happy to install them.
